Flip your menopause on it's head

A Powerful Secret they Don't Want you to Know

You probably know, deep down that you are not a machine to be fixed – a dent in a car won’t fix itself- unlike your bumps and scrapes.

You have an adaptive healing intelligence - you are more like a garden that responds to tending, not fixing.

But they don't want you to know that...

The menopause "industry" worth billions of $$ - from pharmaceuticals and natural products to pillows that promise to cool your hot head - reinforces a familiar narrative…that your human design is flawed and something outside of you can fix you.

Setting the Scene

In modern cultures the menopause meme is deeply ingrained; hot flushes, the stereotypical overly emotional and muddle-headed mid-life woman is a trope most are familiar with.

The messages, on high rotation, from health, beauty and big pharma industries, normalise, as inevitable, the debilitating experience of menopause.

What you Can't See With a Narrow Focus

When you focus only on the tree, you can’t see the forest.

It's the same with menopause.

Our focus is so narrow, perspective is lacking.

And the view changes completely when you broaden the perspective.

Why Do Some Women Never get Hot flushes?

Context explains everything.

In some environments and cultures women easily transition between life stages- no hot flushes, no heavy bleeding, no anxiety or depression. Same hormonal change.

In fact, the experience on the whole, is typically positive.

A Broader Perspective Changes the View

When you look at the whole forest, rather than the tree - you might see a section on the north flank that looks different- the leaves are misshapen, growth is stunted….to understand why you would most likely look to the environment .Did a paper mill recent open upstream or a creek dammed. It could be any number of things.

Your Terrain Perspective

Applying the forest v’s tree perspective to women the question logically follows; what are the differences between these groups – easy transition v’s menopause meltdown- and herein lies the answer.

The Disingenuous Deception

With feet firmly grounded in the Terrain, you know your body has an adaptive healing intelligence; all efforts by your body are remedial in nature.

With this perspective symptoms take on a whole new meaning.

Some women... enjoy chemical free lifestyles, fresh local food, abundant sunlight, fresh air, clean water, living in community, in rhythm with seasonal patterns fully embedded within natural living systems.....

Compared to...

Modern women... stewing in hormone disrupting chemicals; eating, drinking, bathing and breathing in toxic heavy metals and ‘forever’ chemicals.

Slathering on carcinogens in body lotions and cosmetics.

Add artificial lighting, shiftwork and foods that stimulate but lack nourishment.

Plus…the chronic stressors of modernity.

When Bleeding Stops and Flushing Starts

Menstrual blood is known to contain toxins- thus bleeding can lighten your toxic burden.

When bleeding stops - that outlet is shut off - the genius in your system adapts, compensates. It seeks another outlet for removing chemicals.

When Life Heats Up

Sweat offers an outlet for toxins- hence the value of exercise and saunas.

Maybe those hot flushes are an intelligent adaptation, creating a new outlet for trapped toxins? I’m not denying they aren’t disruptive, I am merely broadening the perspective.

Once menstruation stops, could it be that body aches, sleep disruption and mood swings are more to do with toxin redistribution than hormonal change? Mind boggling, reframe? Paradigm shifting perspective?

Could this explain why after menopause women’s risk factors for chronic issues increase, equaling that of men? Simply a result of a detox outlet shutting down?

Flip Your Script

If debilitating menopause symptoms are due solely to hormonal decline then ALL women should have the same experience.

But women don’t, some cultures don’t even have language that describes what modern women experience.

That industrialisation (and chemical exposure) is strongly correlated with a debilitating menopause, points to the relevance of Terrain. Context. Perspective.

The Elephant in the Room

Rather than industry claim responsibility for the damage to natural living systems (of which your body is but one of many) blame is shifted to you.

Your design is flawed. You are broken.

Paradoxically, many end up relying on the ‘fixes’ offered by the very industry that created the problem, the chemical industrial complex.  Be aware, most ‘natural supplements’ are products of this industry too!

Nature First Naturopathy is Different

Nature-first Naturopathy sees symptoms as signals, reporting on the conditions of your Terrain. Silence or ignore the message at your peril.

Nature-first Naturopathy understands that your body isn’t broken nor out to get you.

Re-member, you have an innate healing intelligence- you trust it will heal your bumps and bruises; it signals bed time, toilet time, when to take your next breath and guides your heart to beat day and night. Just because a symptom is disruptive, it is no less intelligent. It is just a more urgent message!

When you listen to the language of your body, you connect to the adaptive healing intelligence that guides you in navigating and tending to your personal Terrain.

I'd love to hear how this lands for you.
